“I love Christmas more than anyone you know.”
This is often an introductory remark about myself. If people ask me to tell them something about myself, use this. I’ve been known as a huge lover of Christmas for years. It just feels good. The world feels good. Eternity must (if I’m comparing it to things i experience now) feel like Christmas all the time. I love that baby, born some 2000 years ago. Thats first. Thats why I can’t keep from tears every Christmas eve at church. It’s really the most beautiful story, ever. I love the commercialization even. Thats not to say the consumerism, but the lights, and tinsel, and santa..the whole shebang. I love it all. I love eggnog. I love candy canes. I thoroughly enjoy caroling. And most strangely…
I start loving it every year, before it’s even on anyone elses mind.
I get random cravings for the holiday midyear.
I get really sad in january, knowing I have eleven painful, mundane months before everyone is feeling it again.
And everytime, normally around September, Im ready to roll on celebrating it. (alone, no one else is at my level of insanity.) This year, this was delayed by grandpas death. But here I am today, having clocked a few hours of Christmas music listening, and having already had a few cups of seasonal coffees (eggnog as well as chocolate peppermint, which you can purchase at your local World Market). Ive had Christmas soda as well. I bought Willie Nelson’s Christmas album the other day. I’m waiting the arrival of Sufjan Steven’s Christmas album from amazon.
And I’m waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

I’m right there with you bud. I”m drinking hot cocoa and I want nothing more than to watch Home Alone 2. I really want to know what Christmas soda is and I am so excited that it’s getting colder and colder every day. Let’s go shopping for Christmas decorations! I need a tree for my dorm room. A big one that goes in the middle of the floor. Huge. Be on the look out.
Willie Nelson? Really? We need to talk.

You’re so cute. Haha, I don’t mean that in the condescending way…. because I know I was making mad fun of you earlier for this Christmas thing. But, I know what you mean. I guess I try to take each season individually because I love each one of them for their own separate reasons… I definitely start anticipating christmas by november-ish…. with the weather right now though I feel the same way.
Oh. And I really want some egg nog.

Umm…That is totally me, Joey. I love Christmas too…maybe even a bit mor than you. I start celebrating Christmas again in maybe January. The Christmas music pretty much never ends in my car. I watch all of my favorite Christmas movies year round. You know, the classics like Prancer, the Santa Claus (Tim Allen…yeah, it’s great!), all the crazy clay-mation ones like Rudolf, The Year Without a Santa Claus, Little Drummer Boy…THE GRINCH!!!!!!! (my favorite! Jim Carey, of course) Yeah, I pretty much celebrate Christmas every day.. but shouldn’t we? After all, the reason for the season is definitely a good one to celebrate every day! But uh, P.S….. eggnog is NASTY!!!
63 days till CHRISTMAS DAY!!!

You should meet my sister Lisa. She starts rotating her 15+ Christmas albums as soon as the academic year starts, and starting mid-November, she has Christmas movie night once a week until…after Christmas. She also lets the tree and lights linger as long as she possibly can. I love it.
